| Guest speaker was Dr. Ahmed Farooq, a Winnipeg doctor who travelled to the Pakistan-administered area of Kashmir that was ravaged by a 7.6 earthquake (equivalent to the 1906 San Francisco earthquake) on October 8th, 2005. It was felt in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. The official death toll was confimred to be 74,698 with another 3.3 million left homeless in Pakistan and damages estimated at over US$ 5 billion.

Sisters of the Holy Rock |

| The Sisters of the Holy Rock formed in the fall of 1993 with 24 members from Grey Street United Church and St Bernadette Roman Catholic Parish. The Sisters are an ecumenical Christian entertainment group. Now 60 in number, they contribute to the musical and spiritual environment to the communities for whom they perform. The Sisters of the Holy Rock is a "not-for-profit" organization sustained by the dedicated volunteerism of its members and families. The "Sisters" are noted as "talented and teasing, serious and silly, faithful and frolicking, holy and hilarious" and now present their own "Sister Act" show. Since 1993, the Sisters of the Holy Rock have performed over 500 concerts entertaining over 200,000 people. They have helped numerous churches and charitable organizations raising nearly 1.5 million dollars through their performances. They have also contributed over $75,000 from their honorariums, to some 150 charities. They have also performed in the US and continue to be the most sought after entertainment groups in Manitoba. |
